Tomorrow Atletico Madrid will be back on the pitch for the return leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Pep Guardiola's Manchester City, who won the first leg 1-0 thanks to De Bruyne's goal. Now, however, the challenge moves to the Wanda Metropolitano, one of the fiercest stadiums in Europe thanks to the performance of pure intensity of Diego Simeone's team (and Simeone himself) and the enthusiasm of the many fans of Atleti.

The same fans have recently launched a campaign to push for the return of the old logo on the shirts for one of the most important matches of the season, thus continuing a battle that has been going on for some years now. That is, since the management of the Madrid club in 2016 decided to update its logo, thus entering the now inevitable diatribe on the need or not to make a restyling to its coat of arms identity. That logo, with the bear and the cherry tree that have represented the city since the 13th century, was slightly stylized by also changing the position of the animal but never really convinced Atleti fans. On the contrary, according to various indiscretions, they forced the company to retrace its steps for the next season, even if the first leaks maintain the new and discussed logo.

While waiting for the next decisions, which will concern the future of the club's heritage, now the fans are clamoring for the team to take the field not with the first kit, with the classic red and white horizontal stripes, but with the fourth, entirely red but on which Nike has decided to pin the old logo. A bit like what New Balance did with the fourth kit of AS Roma, which saw the return of the ASR logo, and with which the Giallorossi won the last Derby. Perhaps the fans of Atletico Madrid hope to have the same luck against a team that at the moment seems unstoppable as Manchester City, clinging to the symbol that according to many contains the soul of the club.
