May 10th, 2022
Mental health is an increasingly central issue in the football world and just as we enter Mental Health Awareness Week, Kyle Walker and PUMA have teamed up with Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) to create two limited edition kits that will also be available on FIFA 22. The kits, available for purchase through PUMA and Pro:Direct Soccer, were designed by the England fullback to open up an honest conversation around mental health and challenge the stereotypes that keep people from seeking the help they need.
The home kit reflects each stage of Walker's football career, going from the highs of Premier League victories to the lows of defeats in major finals. The colors used represent the clubs the full-back has played for and is a tribute to the clubs role in making him the teammate and father he is today. The away kit, on the other hand, tells of the great difficulties faced by people who suffer from poor mental health, a much higher number than is believed. On the jersey there are statistics and phrases that highlight how in the UK 125 people die of suicide every week, 75% of them are men. CALM's message that "life is always worth living" is also visible on the kit.
All proceeds from the sale of the jerseys will be donated by PUMA to CALM's life-saving initiatives while starting today, EA SPORTS FIFA 22 players will have the opportunity to unlock the home and away kits in FIFA Ultimate Team by completing a series of in-game objectives. The full Kyle Walker x CALM collection will be available in VOLTA FOOTBALL and will include cap, tracksuit and hoodie.
