Playing golf in TN? Now is possible
One of the symbols of the roadman aesthetic rises on the green
April 1st, 2025
When one thinks of golf, the mind usually goes to English lawns, to carts that transport players from one hole to another, to sweaters tied around the shoulders and hats with a folded visor to protect from the sun. Definitely not to the Nike Air Max Plus or Tn, one of the shoes that has defined the urban and Roadman aesthetic since its first release in 1998, and that is more likely to be found at the end of a tracksuit rather than a pastel-colored chino. However, Nike has decided to focus on this model for the highly anticipated Masters Tournament at Augusta, one of the most anticipated events of the season on the green, an annual stage for Nike's lifestyle collections dedicated to golf. In the past, Tiger Woods was the main spokesperson for Nike, with dedicated models and legendary commercials that told the story of the Augusta Masters.
This limited edition Air Max Plus G, however, deviates sharply from the typical urban and nighttime aesthetic of the model, with a floral colorway dedicated to spring. With an upper adorned with an all-over azalea pattern, a fabric texture reminiscent of vintage carpets or curtains, and contrasting black tongue, insoles, and soles, it is one of the most surprising Tns in Nike's catalog. The azalea theme is also present on the Victory Tour 4 and Zoom Infinity Next 2, which are more performance-oriented but with more subtle applications. For the 89th edition, Nike athletes Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka, and defending champion Scottie Scheffler will be wearing both models at Augusta National.
This is not the first time Nike has transformed its Tn into a performance shoe; it already happened two years ago when they created a special version of their Air Zoom Mercurial Superfly cleats with the Tn's shark-like upper for Kylian Mbappé. Now it's the turn of one of the most prestigious and exclusive tournaments of the sports year, and it remains to be seen how they will pair with the green jacket traditionally worn by the winner at Augusta.
