May 24th, 2018
As summer is approaching, normal people are already thinking about taking the towel and rush at the beach, while we’re only focused on the lawns that will be treaded during the 2018 World Cup in Russia. And among those who will do it with style, there will surely be all footballers branded by adidas Football, that today unveiled the new X 18+ model. After seeing it at Mo Salah’s feet, we can now admire the new version that will replace the old X 17 as part of the “Energy Mode” World Cup pack by the Three Stripes.
The new shoe, that we should already see during the Champions League final on Saturday, embraces adidas’ new laceless philosophy, that is now featured on all models: Nemeziz, Predator, X, and COPA. All the boots from the “Energy Mode” pack should be released soon but we’ll now focus on the new X model, realized with a minimal and ultralight composition and a design that has to remind you of the old F50 adizeros.
Of course, the X 18+ brings a massive technological update to the silo, with the laceless upper that wraps the foot, improving stability and acceleration, while the new Claw Collar guarantees a better support and lightweight and it’s now sided with the 3D printed heel that holds the foot during accelerations. The materials are renewed too, with the Skeletal weave and the Speedmesh texture that provide the new X 18+ with a lethal combination of lightness and maneuverability.
And even if you’re not interested in the technological aspect of the matter, there’s still is the strong aesthetic of the new adidas X 18+, freely inspired by one of the F50 adizero models. The upper is mainly blue, with thicker knurls on the foot neck. The lime details are on the three stripes, the inner part of the upper, and the soleplate. As said, the new X will be laceless but there will also be an 18.1 version with the classic lacing system.
