Five football matches to watch this weekend No league matches scheduled, there's the International break: Mancini's Italy but also Messi and CR7

What awaits us is the first weekend of 2019 dedicated to the National teams, but don't panic! There is a range of games so wide that we will try to overcome the International break trauma with the Euro 2020 qualifying matches. But the schedule is actually much more varied: there are absurds friendlies, lower championships games and the MLS, but we still have a clear idea of what to watch.

Portugal - Ukraine

when: Friday 22/3 at 8:45pm

where: Estadio da Luz/Italia 1

The challenges that count are back and also Cristiano Ronaldo is back too, called up in the National team again after a very long break started on June 30th. The Seleçao will play in the Benfica stadium and CR7 will lead their attack, in the opening match of the Lusitanians, current European champions, who will also meet Serbia. In the Portuguese squad there are also the other 'Italians' Mario Rui, Joao Cancelo and Joao Mario.

Argentine - Venezuela

when: Friday 22/3 at 9pm

where: Wanda Metropolitano

The indecision about to watch or not this friendly held in Europe between the two South American selections has practically disappeared after seeing the short spot created by Seleccion Albiceleste in honor of Leo Messi, who will be on the field regularly with a large group of youngsters, many of which we often see playing in Serie A: there is no Icardi but there are Dybala, Lautaro Martinez, Pezzella and the two guys of Udinese: De Paul and Musso. Do not underestimate the opponents, the Vinotinto is one of the most growing National teams in recent years.

Italy - Finland

when: Saturday 23/3 at 8:45pm

where: Dacia Arena/Rai 1

After presenting the new Armani uniforms in Coverciano, Roberto Mancini's Italy restarts from Udine and with the match against Finland, the first of the ten to qualify for Euro 2020. If we need for any particular reason to follow the Azzurri game, we spoil you only the name of the young striker who should play from in the starting XI in the 4-3-3 of Mancini: Moise Kean!

Netherlands - Germany

when: Sunday 24/3 at 8:45pm

where: Johan Cruijff Arena/Rete 4

If there is a European National team that has excited us more than any other during the last Nations League, this is without doubt the new Netherlands of Van Dijk, Depay, de Jong and de Ligt. The Orange youngsters who have already made their debut with the brilliant 4-0 trimmed to Belarus host Germany in the second race of group C, the top Sunday match. On the other hand, Germany, for the first time without by Hummels, Boateng and Muller, but with the return of Sane and the first call of the newcomers Klostermann, Eggestein and Stark.

Sporting Gijon - Real Oviedo

when: Sunday 24/3 at 8:45pm

where: El Molinon/YouTube

If you really don't care about the National teams and you are fascinated by the strange challenges and rivalries, on Sunday evening the Asturian derby between Gijon and Oviedo is scheduled, which will be broadcast live on YouTube like all the Spanish Segunda Division's games. It is not a high ranking challenge but it will be equally vibrant: the hosts, further back in the standings, with a success would prevent rivals from approaching the play-off zone.
