The 5 most iconic Newcastle United shirts
History of the aesthetics of the English before the acquisition of the richest property in world football

All fans of football shirts have a place in their hearts for Newcastle United's black and white stripes. Sportingly the club has been a disaster over the last twenty years, but the style of the shirts and the warmth of Saint James' Park have always kept the club's reputation high across the continent. The news these days is that the club has been acquired by the Saudi fund PIF which will effectively be the richest ownership in world football, surpassing even Manchester City and Paris Saint Germain. Regardless of the news, from any point of view Newcastle's shirts, even when changing sponsors - adidas, Umbro, Asics, Puma - have maintained their visual identity and become one of the most iconic uniforms in the UK.
Now that everything has irreversibly changed, as we don't yet know the plans of the current management, who could in fact both innovate the logo and change Castore at the end of the year, we have made a selection of the best jerseys so that we don't quickly forget the past, made of jerseys that have remained in history. We start with the aasics away jersey from the 1993/94 season, designed in blue and probably inspired by the River Tyne and its particular reflections. Those that follow will recognize them all, we refer to those of 1995/96 and 1997/98, the first marked the great return home of Big AL: Alan Shearer, while the second has written pages of history. Same year as the first jersey mentioned above, same season even the goalkeeper's jersey deserves a special mention that in those years well thought out and made (unlike today with the standard templates for all clubs), with unique and in some ways crazy designs. The last one of 2003-04 season instead is a must, thanks to ''Goal!'' - a film that traces the fictitious career of Santiago Munez, has remained etched in the memory of every fan who dreamed of following in the footsteps of the Mexican who later arrived at Real Madrid.
