Cagliari's new shirt dedicated to its patron saint A jersey reinforcing a spiritual and popular bond spanning more than three centuries

There are just a few days to go before the end of the Serie B championship and Cagliari, coached by Claudio Ranieri, are in the hunt for a play-off place, having all but abandoned the dream of direct promotion. And the islanders will go in search of the last and fundamental with a jersey produced as always by EYE Sports that carries very important meanings and references for the city. The jersey in fact boasts details linked to the iconography of the martyr and the symbols of the great feast of Sant'Efisio, the city's patron saint, from which the designers drew inspiration. Two symbols, among the most heartfelt in the city, come together in the special edition and limited edition jersey, which will be worn in the match against Ternana on 30 April at the Unipol Domus.

The main colour of the Cagliari jersey is an elegant midnight blue, in memory of the heartfelt ceremony of Efisio's return to the city, with the upper chest and shoulders outlined by a weave of tiny golden Greek crosses, present on the inside of the saint's cloak. The edges of the sleeves and the collar, on the other hand, are red-gilded like the outside of the saint's garment, as well as the main colours of the waistcoat and the embroidered fabrics. The weave formed by the small crosses gradually fades towards the base to make way for the representation of one of the best-known symbols of the great event of 1 May: roses. Stylised petals of red, yellow and orange roses lie on the bottom of the jersey to recall the marvellous floral carpet that covers and perfumes the city on the days of the festival. The stylised iconography of the saint, printed in the centre of the jersey between the club and sponsor logos, could not be missing.
